Cholesterol is essential to life but there is good (HDL) and bad (LDL) cholesterol. We often hear about the effects of cholesterol on our heart –HDL protects from heart disease and LDL causes heart disease.

It is very exciting to see that studies are being done showing the benefits of HDL in other areas of our body, like our brain, in conditions such as MS (Multiple Sclerosis).

Although there are many medications that can reduce bad cholesterol in the blood, HDL levels can be greatly improved by including foods such as avocado, nuts and oily fish in your diet. This will have benefits in many areas of your body.
