Diabetes has become an epidemic. The scariest thing to me as a pharmacist is how complacent people are about it. They do not seem to understand how serious it is and how debilitating the complications are. The examples in this article are all too common: 4 insulin injections each day, limb amputations and blindness. Other common complications include kidney failure, erectile dysfunction, stroke and heart disease.

Do NOT ignore the warning signs: excessive thirst, feeling tired and hungry all the time, frequently passing urine, frequent infections, blurred vision.

Diabetes will not go away. The longer you wait the worse your outcome will be. It is much easier to prevent than to control – all it takes is some simple lifestyle changes.
